The 2ZZ-GE is notoriously known for weak oil pumps and failure after continous high RPM use or even the famous 3-2 money-shift. Made from sintered metal, thay are not designed to be pushed much over the stock rev limiter and is one of the main weaknesses of an otherwise very strong engine.

In order to resolve this issue, R9K decided to partnered up with PRP, notoriously known for their innovation in the Nissan RB world, to design and manufactured the very best oil pump gear for the 2ZZ-GE, period. We know their are many aftermarket options available, but in order to call our product the best we needed to take it to the next level.

First off, our gears are made from EN36 steel a nickel-chromium-molybdenum based case hardening engineering steel. The addition of nickel increases shock resistance and toughness while the chromium increases the material's hardenability giving it a uniformed hardness. EN36 is the steel of choice when manufacturing high-strength crankshafts, rods, and gears. It used in both the motorsport and aeronautical industry due to it's impressive material characteristics. Second, our gears are heat treated to give it a uniformed metal structure which mkes them stronger and more durable. Lastly, the gears go thru a isotropic treatment and ultra polish to give the very best surface quality.

Combine all of these and you get an oil pump gear designed to take whatever you can throw at it. This is one of the first modifications, if not the first one, we recommend everyone do to the 2ZZ-GE. This gear will give you the confidence to push your 2ZZ-GE. Highly recommended if running a high-mileage 2ZZ-GE still on the OEM oil pump.
